CLIMAST: Interdisciplinary training in climate sciences

a collaborative project for Master's degree students
from the Universities of Aix-Marseille, Salento and Barcelona
Co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the EU

Man-made climate change and its global impacts are perhaps the most crucial challenges we are to face in the 21st century. The Earth's climate system is physically extremely complex, and in order to make predictions and decisions regarding climate change and any consequent societal adaptation, we require a fundamental understanding of system dynamics. There is a desperate demand for skilled young professionals with up-to-date knowledge in these areas.

The objectives of the CLIMAST project are to create both a network of higher-education institutions involved in climate sciences as well as impact studies to address this demand. The network will focus its efforts on providing high-level knowledge and training in climate sciences with the inclusion of the social sciences in the context of the Mediterranean area. Through these actions, CLIMAST will allow students to develop into engaged professionals able to take a meaningful part in climate negotiations and to face this enormous challenge in the most informed way possible.

Students attending the CLIMAST course will learn the value of international teamwork, gain access to an international network of climate professionals, and benefit from a novel and unique learning experience. Completion of the course also provides students with official EU Europass certification that will complement their Master's degree diploma.
